The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved a request filed by Spire Missouri, Inc. (Spire) which sought Commission authority to revise its low-income tariff in order to provide approximately $940,000 in one-time bill credits to customers financially impacted by COVID-19.
A news release says in its application, Spire stated those funds will be available to provide a one-time bill credit of up to $100 to customers whose household income falls between 136 percent and 185 percent of the federal poverty level. Spire will partner with the United Way to screen customers for eligibility.
Spire said the $940,000 is coming from its Low Income Affordability Program’s unspent funds from the 2019-20 annual period and there will be no negative impact on other customers or the general public.
Spire West provides natural gas service to approximately 517,500 customers in 31 counties, including Carroll, Cooper, Howard, Lafayette, Pettis and Saline in the KMMO listening area.
