Just after 4 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, Marshall Police Department received a call from a worker at Fitzgibbon Hospital Emergency Room in reference to an individual with injuries that required response from law enforcement.
When the officer arrived, contact was made with the victim who appeared to have blood spattered on her clothing and a severe laceration on right ring finger. The victim stated while she was at a residence in the 400 block of Shamrock she was assaulted by a female subject who she identified as 35-year-old Amanda Butler. She claimed Butler attacked her with an arrow head style rock causing the laceration on her finger.
When officers arrived at the residence they were able to make verbal contact with Butler before she closed the blinds. The responding officer noticed the front door was already open and the front screen and main doors were damaged due to a previously served search warrant.
Officers observed blood on the driveway and sidewalk leading up to the front door and on the foyer inside the door. Contact was made with the Saline County Prosecutor and due to the amount of blood observed by officers, they were instructed to enter the home to ensure there was no one inside the residence who had been injured.
After gaining entry into the home, Amanda Butler was taken into custody. She is charged with a Class E Felony for Assault in the 3rd Degree. Bond is set at $7,500 cash only.
Her initial arraignment is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 17 at Saline County Circuit Court.
