Missouri Valley College students recently received awards from the Missouri Broadcast Educators Association (MBEA).
A news release says this organization is made up of mass-communication departments from colleges and universities across the state of Missouri. Each year, students enter audio and video projects that are judged by industry professionals.
Missouri Valley College received 12 awards, which is the most awards ever earned by MVC. There were 31 categories with winners from 13 different schools. The top winning school was Missouri State University with 13 awards, with MVC finishing second.

“The strength of the Missouri Valley mass communication program continues to grow, and that shows in the awards the students earn,” said Chaz Maddi, KMVC-TV manager and instructor of broadcast. “The students put in a tremendous amount of work, and they’re having success competing with much larger institutions. That means a lot not only for their college careers, but also as they move into their professional careers. For the faculty, it’s fun to watch them strive for and achieve this level of success.”
