During her report at the most-recent Sweet Springs R-7 School Board meeting, Superintendent Lori Price gave an update on what’s happening in the district.
According to unofficial meeting minutes, Price thanked the district classified staff. She said they are the ones preparing and delivering meals to the students on a weekly basis; and keeping the school clean, sanitized and safe.
Price also thanked Wanda Crank for making face masks for classified staff members so the staff can remain safe and healthy.
Meals were being delivered daily Monday through Friday since March 16; but, as positive cases of COVID-19 started to increase within the county, the delivery schedule was altered to two days per week to limit exposure for the staff.
Price said beginning Monday, April 20, meals will be delivered on Mondays and Thursdays, with three breakfast and lunch per student going out on Monday and two breakfasts and lunches per student going out on Thursday.
Price said currently the district is providing meal services for approximately 45 percent of its student population. She said meals will continue to be delivered through May 15.
Price also said decisions will be forthcoming regarding the final pick up of learning activities and personal belongings, return of textbooks, library books, uniforms, etc.; as well as decisions related to graduation, preschool and kindergarten registration and summer school.
