The positive number of cases of COVID-19 in the state of Missouri jumped by nearly 400 over the weekend.
According to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, as of 2 p.m. on Friday, April 17, the total number of positive cases was 5,283. As of 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 19, the number grew to 5,667.
There have been 55,873 tests conducted by all labs.
The number of deaths increased to 176 on Sunday from 165 on Friday.
In the KMMO listening area, 54 positive cases have been confirmed in Saline County (although county health officials now confirm 72 positives- as of 10 a.m. on Monday, April 20, with eight recoveries and one current hospitalization); 30 positive cases in Lafayette County (20 of whom have recovered); 13 in Pettis County (as of April 16, two were discharged from isolation; six were recovering at home; and one was hospitalized); four in Chariton; four in Cooper County (two of whom have recovered); and two in Howard County.
In addition, 93 positive cases have been confirmed in Boone County; 48 in Johnson County; eight in Randolph County; seven in Ray County; six in Henry County; five in Linn County; three in Benton County; and two in Livingston County.
One death has been reported in each Lafayette, Boone, Henry and Linn County.
DHSS expects the next update to be made at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 20.
