A production facility in Marshall that has seen a large number of positive cases of COVID-19 among its staff will remain closed for an additional week.
When Conagra in Marshall discontinued production last weekend, the plan was to resume operations on Monday. According to a plant spokesperson, since suspending operations on April 17, Conagra has been proactively testing employees for COVID-19 to help reduce the spread of the virus and the decision has been made to keep the facility closed until May 4.
The health and safety of the employees remains the company’s top priority. In the Marshall facility, social distancing techniques have been put in place, screening temperatures and increased sanitization in the facility to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
When the facility reopens Conagra will continue to use rigorous plant maintenance, sanitation processes, and other preventative measures to maintain a safe work environment.
Employees will still be paid while the facility is temporarily closed and the company will continue to pay employees who need to be away from work due to a COVID-19 related illness.
