Leadership in a Howard County city will be changing hands this week.
If the Municipal Election would’ve taken place as scheduled earlier this month, there already would’ve been a new mayor in Fayette. However, with the COVID-19 pandemic, the Municipal Election was pushed back from April 7 to June 2.
After serving four years as an alderman, Greg Stidham was voted in by residents to be mayor in April 2018. Stidham decided not to run for reelection for the two-year post. However, Stidham agreed to stay onboard for longer to help out. But he and his wife are scheduled to move out of state on Friday, May 1.

Stidham says his two years as mayor went really well. “I enjoyed my experience,” he said.
Mayor Pro Tem Grafton Cook will take over and serve as mayor from May 1 until the new mayor takes the Oath of Office in June.
Two mayoral candidates are on the June 2 ballot- current alderwoman Stephanie Ford and Kevin Oeth.
