Effective May 1, 2020, Sergeant Jeffrey VanTress, Q/DDCC, will retire after nearly 31 years of service to the citizens of Missouri.

VanTress was appointed to the Missouri State Highway Patrol on July 1, 1989, as a member of the 61st Recruit Class. After graduating from the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy, he was assigned to Troop B, Zone 5, Schuyler and Adair counties, as a road officer. He was promoted to the rank of corporal in September of  1994, and designated assistant zone supervisor of Troop B, Zone 8, Marion and Ralls counties. In July of 1998, he was promoted to sergeant and designated zone supervisor of Troop B, Zone 9, Marion and Ralls counties. In October of  2016, VanTress transferred to the Division of Drug and Crime Control, General Headquarters, and was assigned as a criminal investigator in Troop B, Macon, MO.

Sgt. VanTress grew up in Canton, MO. He graduated from Canton High School in 1983. He earned a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice from Truman State University in Kirksville, MO, in 1987. Sgt. VanTress and his wife, Meredith, have five children: Lindsay, Lauren, and Tanner VanTress, and Colton and Owen Andrews.
