A felony charge has been filed against an inmate for allegedly assaulting another inmate at an area correctional facility on March 19.
A probable-cause statement says James Farrell assaulted another inmate by striking him with a closed fist and an elbow to the body and facial area. At no time was the victim able to protect himself or attempt to strike back toward Farrell. The victim was sent twice on medical trips for his injuries- one for a X-rays and the other for a CAT scan of his head for any trauma that he might have sustained from the assault.
Farrell has been charged with a Class B Felony for Violence Against an Inmate by an Inmate at the Department of Corrections. Bond has been set at $20,000 cash or surety.
Farrell’s initial hearing is pending at Cooper County Circuit Court.
