Tuesday 21st May 2024

The Flood Recovery Advisory Working Group is scheduled to meet at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13.
A news release says out of caution surrounding the spread of COVID-19, participation in this meeting will be online only. When the public comment period begins, which will take place near the end of the meeting, the host will announce the call-in number individuals should use to comment.
On July 18, 2019, Governor Mike Parson established the Flood Recovery Advisory Working Group via Executive Order. On December 31, 2019, the working group submitted an initial report to Governor Parson with findings and suggestions. The report is online at dnr.mo.gov/floodrecovery/docs/2019-flood-recovery-advisory-working-group-interim-report-2019-12-31.pdf. The executive order further directs the working group to submit a final report by May 31.
The Flood Recovery Advisory Working Group’s purpose is to provide input through a report to the governor’s office on the state’s short-, medium- and long-term flood recovery priorities and feedback on the state’s current levee system, along with suggested changes to benefit our state and its citizens. In addition to addressing short-term repairs to levees, the working group will explore options to improve the conveyance of floodwater through our major rivers.
Members of the Flood Recovery Advisory Working Group include the Missouri departments of Natural Resources, Agriculture, Economic Development, Transportation and the State Emergency Management Agency. Representatives from the Missouri Levee and Drainage District Association, Missouri Farm Bureau, Missouri Corn Growers Association, Missouri Soybean Association, Coalition to Protect the Missouri River and the Missouri and Associated Rivers Coalition are members as well. Five additional members have been appointed – two representing agribusiness, two representing local government interests, and one representing the northwest Missouri levee district.
The meeting will be broadcast live online and recorded for viewing later. You can watch the meeting or learn more about the Flood Recovery Advisory Working Group at dnr.mo.gov/floodrecovery/.
