The Saline County Mitigation Order adopted the Public Health Order issued April 27, 2020, by the Director of the Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS). This order goes into effect May 16 and runs through May 31, 2020, unless extended by the Director of DHSS. Phase 1 of Governor Parson’s “Show-Me-Recovery” Plan allows business to begin reopening as long as certain provisions are met in order to continue in the effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
According to Saline County Health Department Administrator, Tara Brewer, food establishments may reopen dining rooms as long they follow specific guidelines. In order to begin a soft open, Social Distancing guidelines must be followed, tables must be spaced so that there is six-feet of distance between patrons, no more than ten people per party and no communal tables will be allowed while this order is in place. Other provisions include offering disposable menus and hand sanitizer for patrons use. Where operable, partitions or Plexiglass should be used at registers. Patrons are not allowed to congregate in a waiting area and should be separated while waiting to be seated. Also, high-contact areas should routinely be cleaned and sanitized and table condiments, table tops, seating areas and commonly touched areas need to be clean and sanitized between diners.
Food establishments are encouraged to have employees wear appropriate PPE, continue offering carry-out, delivery and drive-thru as the preferred method of doing business. Pre-shift screenings of employees should be conducted to check temperatures and ensure sick or symptomatic employees do not come to work.
Common symptoms include: fever over 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit, cough, shortness of breath, headache and muscle aches (unknown reason).
A short inspection of each establishment will be conducted by the Health Department between May 11 and May 15 to ensure all requirements are met before they may open. To schedule a day for inspection contact the Health Department at 660-886-3434.
