During Saline County’s COVID-19 weekly briefing on Thursday, May 7, 2020, county officials discussed a number of topics.
Saline County Health Department Administrator, Tara Brewer said food establishments can begin soft reopen on Saturday, May 16. Inspections of restaurants who wish to reopen will start next week. She said most facilities have opted to wait until they can accommodate more patrons before they decide to reopen.
As of Thursday afternoon, only a small number of restaurants have made plans to reopen with the guidelines set in place for a soft reopen.
In Marshall that includes; the Stonehedge Country Club, Bloomfield’s Family Restaurant, LaPaz Mexican Restaurant and Mexico Lindo, in Slater Gari’s Diner and Margarita’s Mexican Restaurant, in Sweet Springs the Last Chance Saloon and in Emma K-Bar are all planning to reopen.
Plans are underway in several communities in regards Graduation ceremonies. Sweet Spring School District is making plans to hold a personal ceremony with each individual graduating senior and their families as was well as holding a parade. Plans for a parade in Marshall are still in the works and Slater’s Graduation Ceremony is set for July 10 at 7:30 p.m. More details regarding these event and others around the area will be released as they become available.
Fitzgibbon Hospital is still limiting visitors. Exceptions for visitors will be made on a case by case basis and all visitors to the hospital will be required to wear a face mask.
It was also noted during the meeting that park shelters in Marshall are open but social distancing guidelines will still need to be followed.
The next Saline County COVID-19 meeting will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m.
