
Westport Estates, senior living by Americare, has confirmed that a resident has tested positive for COVID-19.
A news release says the facility in Marshall, was made aware on Monday, May 11, that a resident who was sent to the hospital with respiratory symptoms has tested positive for COVID-19. The resident remains hospitalized.
As of Monday night, all residents in both buildings at Westport Estates were placed on in-room quarantine and the facility has implemented contact-isolation protocols. All residents have been receiving daily wellness checks since March 13, and are now being checked every four hours during waking hours for symptoms. All staff is wearing N95 masks while in the building and gloves while in resident rooms.
In accordance with the facility’s pandemic guidelines, the administrator contacted the local and state health departments to report the positive test results. The Saline County Health Department will test all residents and staff of both buildings. These tests will be performed by Thursday, May 14, and the results should be known within 48 hours of the last test being performed.
The Saline County Health Department will notify all residents, responsible parties and employees privately of their test results.
All residents, employees and resident family members have been informed of the positive test, the testing plans. The entire Westport Family will be notified of the overall test results.
