Numbers continue to rise in a county that didn’t start to see any positive cases of the novel coronavirus until most of the surrounding counties were already in the double digits.
Carroll County reported their first case of COVID-19 on April 21. As of Thursday, May 14 there have been a total of eight positive cases of the virus in the county.
According to Carroll County Health Department Administrator, Roberta Hartwig, at least one of the new cases is unrelated to the others.
Health Department staff continues to work on locating and notifying anyone who may have come into close contact with the individuals and possibly exposed to the virus. Persons who may have been exposed will be given guidance and will be closely monitored for development of any symptoms.
The community is urged to continue to follow social distancing guidelines and good hygiene practices.
