Marshall Municipal Utilities has begun to gradually reopen its recycling center in phases.
On May 11, MMU says it started accepting recycled cardboard from ConAgra. MMU says this material is handled mechanically and requires little to no hand contact by employees.
On Monday, May 18, MMU will start accepting mixed paper from Municipal Services’ curbside pickup and plastics from ConAgra. These materials also are handled mechanically and require little contact by employees.
Until further notice, the Public Drop-Off Facility remains closed.
MMU says by the end of May or in early June- an exact date has not been determined- it hopes to open up the Public Drop-Off Facility. MMU says much of what is dropped off by the public requires a lot of hand contact by employees, and is their greatest exposure, especially by handling plastics.
MMU General Manager Jeff Bergstrom asks residents to be patient and not to bring everything at one time once the facility reopens.

As soon as MMU determines an exact date, it will notify the public.
