A 38-year-old Higginsville man has been charged with a couple of weapon-related felonies after a reported incident on May 10.
According to a Higginsville Police Officer, a resident reported a male known to her as Stacey pulled up in his vehicle, brandished a gun and threatened to kill individuals because of where they were parked. Multiple witnesses confirmed the woman’s account. One witness said the firearm was a semiautomatic handgun. Another witness said he witnessed Stacey Lynn Combs waving the gun after “putting one in the chamber and clicking the safety off.” It also was reported there were children in the area.
Combs, who is a convicted felon, first denied having any firearm and said he only had a phone in his hand during the confrontation to authorities. A consented search of his vehicle had negative results. It was told to authorities that the gun was hidden at Combs’ residence. Combs later confessed to authorities that there was a firearm in the residence. The firearm- with three rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber- was located inside the residence.
Combs has been charged with a Class D Felony for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and a Class E Felony for Unlawful Use of a Weapon- Exhibiting. Bond has been set at $15,000 cash.
Combs waived his formal arraignment and entered a plea of not guilty on Wednesday, May 13. His next hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20, at Lafayette County Circuit Court.
