During the meeting of the Saline County Commission on Tuesday, May 19, commissioners outlined a four-phase plan to distribute CARES Act Funding.
Presiding Commissioner Kile Guthrey Jr. said the county received more than $2.6 million that has to be disbursed.

Guthrey said there is two-page application, but the businesses are going to need to have all kinds of supporting documents, including things such as it is a bonafide business, how many persons are employed, and what the business has spent out of pocket due to COVID-19.
Northern District Commissioner Stephanie Gooden explained why the application process is necessary.

Phase two will be for health/emergency services, nursing homes and public health. Phase three will be for the county, cities and schools. Phase four will be for any remaining and unfunded categories compliant with CARES Act distribution.

Southern District Commissioner Monte Fenner explained there is a cap on funding for Phase One.

The applications can be obtained through Chambers of Commerce, city clerks, the Saline County website, the Saline County Emergency Management Agency and the county commission.
Guthrey said the reason the commission put a cap on funds is because the commission hopes everybody can get in on the funding. also gave kudos to Lafayette County Clerk Linda Niendick and Saline County Emergency Management Agency assistant Sharon Sheffer for helping to get the application prepared.
