The importance of social distancing was the topic at the Pettis County COVID-19 Task Force briefing on Tuesday, May 26, 2020.
The events that were well documented over the weekend reflected people not observing social distancing at the Lake of the Ozarks as well as 2 stylists exposing over 100 clients at a salon in Springfield, highlights the importance of personal responsibility in dealing with COVID-19.
Last week demonstrated the impact protective measures have in slowing the spread of COVID-19 as there were no new cases reported from May 18-24.
So far this week there have been two new cases reported in Pettis County, bringing the total to 72.  Out of these totals, there are currently 5 active cases, and 66 people have been released from observation. There have been no new deaths related to the virus in Pettis County and one person remains hospitalized.
Social distancing protects each individual from others who may have the virus.  Wearing a mask protects others if we may have the virus.
The Pettis County COVID-19 Task Force Briefing is scheduled to be held each Monday and Thursday throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
