Effective June 1, the Saline County Sheriff’s Office will begin reopening lobby services on a limited basis.
A news release says limits are being set to avoid overcrowding and make social distancing possible.
ON-SITE INMATE VISITATION
Visitation in the area off the lobby will resume by appointment only. As usual, times will be limited to 30 minutes in a one-hour period and scheduled according to inmate housing assignment. The new temporary-scheduled times will be posted in inmate housing units, on the lobby door and on the office’s website.
There will be a limited number of booths available for visitation, and only one visitor will be allowed per scheduled time. In the event more than one person requests a visit in the same time slot, the inmate will be allowed to choose their visitor.
Appointments can be made by inmate request or by calling the sheriff’s office and speaking with the jail staff.
On-site visitors should be aware there may be some brief delays while areas are sanitized between uses. In the event of a delay, visit time will be adjusted to allow 30 minutes.
CCW PERMITS
New permits or renewals will be done by appointment only.
SEX OFFENDERS
Registrations will need to be scheduled by appointment.
The office recommends scheduling appointments for visitation, permits or registrations from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. After business hours, those needing CCW permits may leave a message, and they are urged to be sure to provide a callback number for someone to help schedule an appointment.
As always, the lobby is available for the purposes of making a report, applying for a protection order, posting bond or use of the inmate kiosk. For safety of the community and the staff, the department respectfully requests access of the lobby be limited to only the person needing to conduct business or visit. Once testing for driver’s licenses resumes, the department asks only the person testing enter the building.
