The touch down of a tornado was confirmed in an area county on Monday, May 25.
The Chariton County Emergency Management Agency says a tornado briefly touched down near Mendon, causing minor property damage.
The National Weather Service says the twister hit just after 6 p.m. at the corner of Mike Road and Vernon Kennedy Avenue.
No other information is available at this time.
