Some outdoor athletic/activity facilities, which have been closed for a while due to COVID-19, are going to be allowed to open up in an area town.

According to a release from Carrollton Mayor Scott Bartlett, effective Monday, June 1, baseball fields, basketball and tennis courts, and the skate park and shelter houses in the Carrollton Parks System will be reopened for public use.

Bartlett’s release says while there is currently no limit on social gatherings in place, Governor (Mike Parson) continues to require the practice of social distancing, and these practices should be followed by those using the park.

With Carrollton Little League canceled for the season, there currently aren’t any official games scheduled for the ball fields. The release says desire to use the fields for such will require prior approval of the park board, with possible input from the Town Council.

At this time, Bartlettt says the use of playground equipment across the parks’ system is prohibited.
