There are two races being contested for seats on the Sweet Springs Board of Aldermen and one for the Slater City Council during the Municipal Election on Tuesday, June 2.
Mayor Franny Vaught is running for another term unopposed in Sweet Springs. Two aldermen seats are up for grabs. Running for the seat in Ward 1 are John W. Clevenger and Mark Schmitt. Vying for the Ward 2 seat are William “Trey” Schleicher III and former mayor Dee Friel.
For council seats in Slater, in Ward 2, Jake W. Brumit is being challenged by Glenn R. Thomas. Jason Weiker in Ward 1, Brett Hemeyer in Ward 3 and Danny Bryson in Ward 4 are running unopposed.
In Blackburn, Mayor Karen Sims and alderpersons Martha “Marcy” Fiene and Florence E. Wilson are running unopposed.
Two men are running for two seats on the Emma Board of Aldermen: Dennis D. Oetting and Lonnie Weber.
Only Joyce Dambacher has filed for three seats on the Village of Grand Pass Board.
Alice Rhea as Mayor and Ralph Varner in Ward 1 and Brent Gorrell in Ward 2 Aldermen are running unopposed in Malta Bend.
In Miami, John Bakert is running unopposed for Mayor; but Denise Ward, Karen Wilson, Derrick Arnold and Christina Taylor are vying for three seats on the city council.
Merle Trelow is the only candidate for two seats on the Village of Mt. Leonard Board of Trustees.
Karen Berry, Caitlin Essmeyer and Ryan Zirngibl are the candidates for thee seats on the Village of Arrow Rock’s Board.
In a race that will include votes from several area counties, running for two seats on the Junior College Board of Trustees are Justin Hubbs, Richard L. Parker, Christopher Paszkiewicz, Yvonne Clark and WyAnn Lipps.
In addition, Debbie Lueck is running for a seat on the Board of Directors in Consolidated Public Water Supply District of Lafayette, Johnson and Saline Counties, District No. 4; and Michael Arth in District No. 5. This race also will include votes in Lafayette and Johnson Counties.
Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
