In late March, the city of Marshall postponed the annual Citywide Neighborhood Cleanup due to COVID-19.
During the meeting of the city council on Monday, June 1, Mayor Julie Schwetz asked if there has been a decision on a date to put it back on the calendar. Municipal Services Director Bill Anderson said it’s up to the council.
Anderson said the rules are whatever residents can bring to the site, excluding some items.
Anderson said the city still can go curbside and pick up items, but it’s more time intensive. Mayor Schwetz also pointed out residents can put items out on their regular trash day.
Ward 1 Councilman Dewey Hendrix said there is an event that will be held by Region F DNR Solid Waste Management in Saline County later this year.
Ward 2 Councilman Kirk Arends’ motion was approved to have a “Trash Bash” event on Saturday, June 20, at the empty lot north of 211 North Benton Avenue. Arends also added this is with the intent to reevaluate and see what needs to be done down the line.
If residents have any questions, they can call Municipal Services at 886-3945.
