Two Maryland men have been charged with a drug-related felony for allegedly being in possession of a large cache of marijuana and lots of cash following a traffic stop on I 70 in Saline County on June 5.
A Missouri State Highway Patrol report says during a search of the vehicle, a trooper located two large duffel bags containing vacuum-sealed bundles of marijuana weighing approximately 105 pounds. One of the occupants of the vehicle possessed over $3,200 and the other more than $1,500. Per request of the Saline County prosecuting attorney, the money was seized.
Nigel Thomas, of Gaithersburg, and Robert Sproles, of Upper Marlboro, have has been charged with a Class C Felony for Trafficking Drugs in the Second Degree. Bond for each subject has been set at $75,000 cash only.
Thomas waived his formal arraignment, while Sproles was arraigned on Tuesday, June 9. Each has a confined docket hearing scheduled for 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 10, at Saline County Circuit Court.
