Central Missouri Honor Flight received word from the Honor Flight national office that all Honor Flights are grounded for the remainder of 2020.
A news release says there will be no Honor Flights from anywhere in the country until sometime in 2021.
Central Missouri Honor Flight says it is disappointed, but completely agrees with the decision. “It makes no sense to risk the health and safety of our wonderful veterans. So, we support the national office’s decision.”
The release continues: “The COVID-19 crisis has had an impact on everyone in our nation. Hundreds of thousands of our citizens have lost their jobs, their loved ones and their lives. In the face of that reality, delaying our flights until next year, while disappointing, pales in comparison to the challenges many are facing.”
“Among the many lessons our veterans have taught us are resilience, patience and prioritizing the needs of others. We will call upon those qualities now and look forward to next spring when we hope to once again take to the skies to honor those who have protected our nation — a nation that can take on any challenge — and prevail!”
