The Lafayette County Health Department confirmed one additional positive case of COVID-19 in the county on Thursday, June 11.
According to a news release, this makes a total of 84 confirmed cases in the county, with 65 having recovered; 16 active cases; and three deaths.
The CDC always recommends residents take everyday precautions to help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses-including:
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
• Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
• Stay home when you are sick.
• Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
• Clean and disinfect frequently-touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing; going to the bathroom; and before eating or preparing food.
• If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60-percent alcohol.
• Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.
Social distancing is still the norm. You are urged to stay at least six feet away from others in public and wear a cloth face covering or surgical mask when in crowded conditions.
