During the meeting of the Glasgow School Board on Wednesday, the administration announced in the next few days the district will be sending out a “Needs Assessment Survey” to all parents in the district.
Minutes from the meeting say all information collected will be used to help the district draft a Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP). The CSIP will be used as a guide to assist the district in setting goals that it plans to achieve in the next few years. In addition, data from the survey will help the district better understand the technology needs that students have at home. This information is critical as the district makes plans for the fall and the possibility of remote learning, should another state shutdown occur.
In other news, as the district prepares to return to school in the fall, it has begun ordering and receiving new sanitation supplies, infrared thermometers and a small amount of personal-protective equipment (PPE). The district is ordering now so supplies have ample time to arrive, but it still anticipates needing more items of this nature.
The district has visited with the county health department and hopes for additional guidance as the calendar turns to July.
In the coming weeks, district administrators also will be attending more meetings with the Department of Education and look forward to receiving more concrete guidance for the reopening of school in the fall. The district expects to have a full reopening plan in place early in August, prior to the first day of school on August 26.
