The Lafayette County Health Department has reported one new case of COVID-19 has been confirmed in the county on Friday.
This new case makes the total number of confirmed cases to 85 in the county with 15 of those cases still active. There are 67 persons that have been released from observation and there have been a total of three deaths related to the virus.
Per Governor Parson as Phase 2 of reopening begins on Tuesday, June 16, there will be no statewide health order. All statewide restrictions will be lifted, though local officials will still have the authority to put further rules, regulations, or ordinances in place.
While Lafayette and most other rural counties have elected to follow what the state does and not enact further restrictions, residents are reminded that the virus is still prevalent.
All individuals are encouraged to continue following social distancing recommendations. Taking extra precautions to protect themselves and others when social distancing is the way to stay smart and safe.
Businesses, agencies and institutions, particularly those with high-risk and special populations may implement additional safety measures. This can help mitigate the risk of COVID-19 to protect employees, patrons and those entering the establishment.
