During the meeting of the Glasgow School Board on Wednesday, the board certified the recent election results and swore in incumbent David McKenzie and new members Chad Fuemmeler and Kent Sanders.
According to meeting minutes, Bob Draffen was elected board president; David McKenzie vice president; Mitch Monnig secretary; and Nikki Gouge treasurer.
In other news, in April, the district received a letter from the city of Fayette asking the school board to consider returning fine money garnished from the 2019 tax collections because the city’s financial report for 2018 had not been filed. After seeking advice from the district’s attorney, the board voted to retain the fine money. Per the attorney, the city’s request presents multiple legal complications for the district.
The board approved the installation of Wi-Fi in all middle school and high school classrooms. This installation also will allow access to Wi-Fi outside the building walls and provide Internet access for community use should another state shutdown happen.
The board also gave the green light to the purchase of a new math textbook series for grades K-5; a mowing and maintenance contract for Garrett Fuemmeler for John Donaldson Field; and an extension of a three-year contract with Quality Network Solutions for the maintenance of the district’s technology.
