The Mayor and City Administrator were notified today (June 18, 2020) that Jubilee World has officially closed on the sale of the Wentworth Military Academy. The City of Lexington is excited to welcome this vibrant group to Lexington, and at some point in the near future, City staff will help organize a public event to welcome Jubilee to Lexington. The Mayor and Administrator have met all of the executive staff of Jubilee World and are quite impressed with both their integrity as people and eagerness to maintain and enhance the historic Wentworth Campus and desire to build a new legacy for the campus going forward.
The following is the press release from Jubilee World.
Jubilee World has acquired the 43-acre Wentworth Military Academy (WMA) campus for its new educational wing, starting the 2020-21 academic year.
Jubilee World is a Christian music and performing arts organization based in St. Louis. The organization bought the property at 1880 Washington Avenue in Lexington, Missouri, following the closing of WMA in 2017, formerly a private two-year military college and high school.
The new campus will be used as educational facilities for Jubilee World, which owns two additional educational institutions in Nashville, TN and St. Louis, MO.
Thanks to the existing facilities, the new campus is already equipped with a chapel, dining hall, classrooms, administration offices, and recreational facilities. Jubilee World also plans to move ahead with campus maintenance and enhancement projects.
At full capacity, Jubilee World will have room to accommodate 600 students at the new location. Faculty and staff will increase in tandem.
Jubilee World is aiming for a 2020-21 academic year start date, once the necessary approvals are finalized, and COVID-19-related restrictions for educational institutions are cleared.
Jubilee World is grateful for the new campus and is looking forward to working together with the local community.
