A former area city administrator who had been charged with a felony for allegedly stealing from the city he was employed with, entered a plea to a lesser charge during a court proceeding on Thursday, June 18.
A probable-cause statement says, between January 2014 and December 2017, 48-year-old Kevin Atwood was employed as Glasgow City Administrator and Chief of Police and was alleged to have, stolen more than $2,000 from the city, using the city’s credit card for personal gain and cashing a check that he claimed had been approved by the mayor. Atwood was alleged to have sold firearms that belonged to the city.
Atwood was originally charged a Class D Felony for Stealing of $750 or More. On Thursday, June 18, Atwood entered a guilty plea to a misdemeanor charge of Receiving Stolen Property.
Atwood has been ordered to surrender POST and pay the city of Glasgow $2,787 by July 16. A sentencing hearing for Atwood is scheduled to be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 27 at Howard County Circuit Court.
