Last month, Interim Marshall Park Board President Wayne Crawford announced at the Marshall City Council meeting, that the park board had made the decision to close the pool for the summer, but after careful consideration and continuing to assess the situation regarding COVID-19 and restrictions that would have made it difficult to safely open the board has now made the decision to open the Marshall Aquatic Center.
Marshall Parks and Recreation Director Chad Unterreiner says the board is still working out the details but the pool should open up next month.
Unterreiner says the finals plans have not be decided but, he says one of the plans is to have the pool open in sessions and with this plan admission to the pool would be $3 per session instead of $5 a day.
He said whatever plan the Pool Board comes up with will need to be presented to and approved by the Saline County Health Department. Since the Governor has reopened the state with no restriction, there is no plan to conduct temper checks or conduct contact tracing on anyone who visits the pool. The capacity will be less than what is normally allowed in the pool but it will be more than 53, which is the number of people that would have been allowed if the board had decided to open the pool before all the restrictions were lifted. KMMO will release more details on the opening of the Marshall Aquatic Center as it becomes available. Unterreiner says a final decision should be available by the end of the month.
