During the 2020 Missouri State FFA convention that was held virtually, Kiersten Helm, of Lexington, was named as 2020-2021 state FFA vice president. Helm is a member of the Lexington FFA Chapter. Her advisor is Courtney Chaney. Her parents are Jesse and Erin Helm.

Helm’s supervised agricultural experience program includes working at a family-owned hardware store. In addition, she tutors middle school agricultural science students.

During high school, Helm served as chapter president and secretary, and area treasurer.

Helm has participated in horse evaluation and selection, and floriculture career development events. She competed at the state level in the Missouri Teach Ag FFA Fall Speaking Contest. Helm competed at the area level in advanced prepared public speaking and Division II prepared public speaking CDEs. She was named Chapter Star Greenhand. In addition, Helm attended the Washington Leadership Conference and National FFA Convention & Expo.

In addition to FFA, Helm was Spanish club treasurer and a member of National Technical Honor Society. Outside of school, she is a member of Missouri 4-H and Missouri Junior Cattlemen’s Association. Helm attended Missouri Girls State. Recently, she was selected to be an intern for Glen Kolkmeyer, a representative for Missouri District 53.

After graduating high school, Helm’s plans include attending Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville, to study agricultural education and agricultural business. Helm said she hopes to teach high school agriculture and advocate for agriculture.
