During the meeting of the Glasgow School Board on Tuesday, June 30, Jason Monnig, Pete Gorton from the John Donaldson Network, Charles Morris and J.Y. Miller addressed the board regarding the opening of the new John Donaldson Field.
At this time, opening day is scheduled for Friday, September 4- softball and baseball games versus Higbee. The district is expecting many guests at opening day, including members of the Donaldson family and many other baseball dignitaries.
A committee of community members, school board representatives, the school board and Gorton will begin working on plans for opening day. Anyone interested in serving on the committee should contact Superintendent Sonya Fuemmeler at the school at (660) 338-2012.
In other news, the district has been notified of a substantial donation to each school in the county to use for the acquisition of technology devices. The district will utilize the funds to purchase 110 additional chrome books for student use and 20 webcams for teacher use in the event of required remote teaching.
The district says the building has been thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. In addition, the floors have all been shined up with a fresh coat of wax, and many classrooms and other areas have been painted.
