Johnson County Community Health Services (JCCHS) has announced that it was informed on Wednesday, July 8, of the first death of a Johnson County resident due to complications from COVID-19.
The agency says the death occurred on Wednesday morning at the individual’s residence.
JCCHS Administrator Mary Thaut reminds Johnson County residents to take preventive actions to stop the spread of COVID-19, which include:
· Wear a face covering when in a public location;
· Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60-percent alcohol;
· Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands;
· Cover your coughs and sneezes using your elbow or shoulder rather than your hands;
· Clean and disinfect frequently-touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe;
· Stay home if you are sick; and
· Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
If you suspect that you have COVID-19 or have been exposed to someone with COVID-19, call your healthcare provider to let them know before seeking care. It is critical that your provider is aware you may have COVID-19 prior to your arrival at a healthcare facility, and that you follow all instructions.
