
Arzella H. Thornton, 97, of rural Sweet Springs, died Tuesday, July 14, 2020.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 20, at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Blackburn. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be at Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Social distancing will be observed and face masks are strongly encouraged. Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s United Church of Christ or Crossroads Hospice in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home. Friends may sign the online register book.
Survivors include three children, Ann Ross (Tom) of rural Sweet Springs, Stanley Thornton (Wanda ) of rural Sweet Springs and Phil Thornton (Phyllis) of Marshall; six grandchildren, Lisa Sims (Tim), Jeff Hanes, Blaine Thornton (Tiffany), Meridith Haley (Jeremy), Rachel Hudson (Christopher) and Morgan Jolliff; six great-grandchildren, Sebastian Sims (Michelle), Aaron Sims (Karson), Karstin Hanes, Charlot Thornton, Conrad Thornton and Kaiden Haley; one great-great-granddaughter, Sutton Sims; sister-in-law, Jewell Banfield of Denver, CO; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, H. Rinne and Mary Fischer Rinne; and husband, Ralph V. (Bud) Thornton; she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Walter Wells; one brother, Gilbert Rinne; and two sisters, Alma Blumhorst and Nadine Hefty.
