Much of the meeting of the Saline County Commission on Tuesday, July 14, was spent explaining the CARES Act funding process.
Northern District Commissioner Stephanie Gooden explained some of the details.
Gooden said for the first phase, the commission put a cap of $10,000 on the available funds for small businesses.
Gooden explained what entities are encompassed in Phases 3 and 4- the latter of which is to start on August 1.
As of Tuesday, the commission had awarded $63,797 to more than 30 applicants; with more than 30 additional applications to go through later that day.
Presiding Commissioner Kile Guthrey Jr. said the commission needs to distribute more than $2.6 million by the end of December or return what’s left to the state.
