A Glasgow woman has been charged with a felony for allegedly being in possession of fake money.
According to a probable-cause statement, during the search of a vehicle that was involved in a crash, authorities observed a large roll of $100 bills in the cup holder behind the center console. The highway patrolman picked up the money and instantly discovered it did not have the correct texture for U.S. currency. The trooper counted 29 $100 bills, and each had an Asian language red stamp on each side. Each of the $100 bills did not contain the appropriate security strip. All of the $100 bills had the same serial number. The $100 bills appeared to be counterfeit, but displayed “THIS NOTE IS LEGAL TENDER FOR ALL DEBTS, PUBLIC AND PRIVATE.”
Amy Renee Rievley has been charged with a Class C Felony for Counterfeiting. Bond has been set at $5,000 cash only.
Rievley’s initial hearing is pending at Howard County Circuit Court.
