Carroll County has reported a huge spike in COVID-19 numbers since the beginning of the month.
As of Thursday afternoon, the number of positive cases of the virus in Carroll County has risen to 57. The Carroll County Health Department has reported there are now 40 active cases, with 17 persons released from observation and one person remains hospitalized.
According to the Carroll County Health Department Director, Roberta Hartwig, all persons identified by the case subject as a close contact, which is defined as closer than six-feet for a prolonged time of more than 15 minutes, are notified. Therefore, just being in the same public place does not necessarily make someone a close contact. Social distancing should be observed while in public places for this reason.
