Results for a variety of events at the Saline County Fair have been released, including Shooting Sports, Meats, Multipurpose Exhibits and winners in the Goat and Sheep Shows.
A news release says this year over 500 exhibits were entered into the 4-H project building, with 54 youths qualifying for the 4-H State Fair Building. For this event, youths brought projects in categories such as gardening, welding, foods, and more to be constructively critiqued – an opportunity for 4-H members and judges to review together the strengthens and potential improvements to the item.
Meat projects include bacon, as well as smoked and non-smoked hams. While total numbers were down for a variety of reasons, youths learned about meat trimming, care and environmental considerations- all which lead to quality entries this year.
