A local high school student is competing in the 72nd annual National High School Finals Rodeo (NHSFR).
Karsyn Fuchs is a freshman at Marshall High School and she and her teammates of the Missouri National High School rodeo team are in Guthrie, Oklahoma competing in the National High School Finals Rodeo. Fuchs is competing in the Girls Goat Tying competition.
The rodeo kicked off on Friday and is scheduled to run through Thursday, July 23. Karsyn will be competing in the morning and evening events on Monday.
This is the world’s largest rodeo and features more than 1,650 contestants from across the United States, Canada, Australia and Mexico. In addition to competing for more than $150,000 in prizes, contestants will also be competing for more than $375,000 in college scholarships and the chance to be named an National High School Finals Rodeo World Champion. In order to earn the title of NHSFR World Champion, contestants must finish in the top 20 – based on their combined times/scores in the first two rounds – to advance to final round Thursday evening. World champions will then be determined based on their three-round combined times/scores.
