A street closure was approved for an event by a city government during its meeting on Monday, July 20.
According to unofficial minutes from the Sweet Springs Board of Aldermen meeting, Charley and Jed Peaster, with Peterbilt Customs, requested Johnson Street to be closed for a grand opening for their chrome shop in conjunction with a truck show. They said the event will be held Saturday, August 8.
Aldermen approved the street to be closed from 7 a.m. on Friday, August 7, until 10 p.m. on Saturday, August 8.
In other business, President of the Park Board Everett Peeples informed the board that the all-inclusive playground is finished.
Mayor Franny Vaught recommended the appointment of Mark Schmitt to the Planning and Zoning Board; Leigh Hartley to the Library Board; and Shannon Hall to the Park Board. Aldermen approved each appointment for a three-year term.
