A Marshall man who allegedly kicked a youth in the face on November 11, 2018, and was charged with a felony, changed his plea and was sentenced to probation recently.
According to a probable-cause statement, on November 26, 2018, a 7-year-old told authorities that he and Anthony Jasper Alspaw were wrestling, and Alspaw became upset at him when he threw a toy doll and hit Alspaw. The child said Alspaw- while in a standing position- kicked him in the face with his foot while he was lying on the floor. The child also said Alspaw picked him up by his shirt and threw him out the front door. The child showed authorities the bruises he had suffered to his left eye, right cheek, right ear, forehead and his right shoulder.
On November 27, the Children’s Mercy Scan Clinic contacted authorities and informed them the child was diagnosed as having suffered physical abuse.
Alspaw was charged with a Class D Felony for Abuse or Neglect of a Child- No Sexual Contact.
On July 13, 2020, Alspaw changed his plea from not guilty to guilty as charged, and the court suspended imposition of a sentence and placed him on five years of supervised probation.
