Multiple felony charges have been filed against the Boonville man after a traffic crash involving injuries on June 21.
According to a report from a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper, two juvenile occupants of one of the vehicles were transported to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment of injuries. The driver of the other vehicle- a Ford Escape- was not on the scene. Later, the driver was identified as Spencer Huffman. A routine computer check revealed the Escape was stolen. Investigation of the crash revealed Huffman’s vehicle was traveling too fast for conditions around a curve and was on the wrong side the roadway without passing.
Inside the Escape, authorities say they located cold beer cans, a baggie of brown powdery substance, a bag containing two pills, a cigarette pack containing a marijuana cigarette and a debit card belonging to another person. The substance was identified as heroin and the pills as Alprazolam, a Controlled IV Substance.
Huffman has been charged with two counts of a Class D Felony for Possession of a Controlled Substance and a Class D Felony for Stealing a Motor Vehicle, as well as Class E Felonies for Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Causing Physical Injuries and Driving While Revoked or Suspended. Bond has been set at $30,000 cash or surety.
Huffman’s initial hearing is pending at Cooper County Circuit Court.
