
As of 3 p.m. on Monday, August 3, six new positive cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Lafayette County from what was previously reported.
The Lafayette County Health Department has a confirmed total of 155 cases of COVID-19 in the county to date. With 121 cases confirmed recovered and three deaths, there currently are 31 active cases.
Just over 10 percent of the county population has been tested. Zip code totals as of Monday: Alma, two; Bates City, six; Concordia, 13; Corder, two; Emma, one; Higginsville, 28; Lexington, 28; Mayview, three; Napoleon, four; Rural Oak Grove, two; Odessa, 18; Waverly, 20; Wellington, three; Apple Ridge Care Center, 17; Waverly Regional Youth Center, six; and Riverbend Heights, two.
Health-department officials say: “It is up to us all to take personal responsibility and protect each other. Please use your masks in public places. It is recommended that you do not invite gatherings of other people into your home, and to avoid gatherings in public places where social distancing and mask use are not practiced. Remember, you can carry the COVID-19 virus without knowing it and not get sick, but other people can get sick, and some die.”
