Five new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Lafayette County on Tuesday.

According to Lafayette County Health Department Director, Tom Emerson there have been a total of 159 cases of the virus confirmed in the county since the start of the pandemic. There have been 121 persons released from observation, a total of three deaths have been reported, leaving 35 active cases in the county.

As of Monday, Lafayette County has seen an increase of 65% in the number of new cases over the last 30 days. Just over 10% of the county population has been tested.

Residents are encouraged to wear a mask when in public and continue social distancing and proper hand hygiene.
