A “Cruise Night” in Slater was a huge success on Slater on Friday, July 31.

City Administrator Gene Griffith said lots of people in vehicles participated in the event from 7 to 9 p.m. along Main Street and elsewhere throughout the town.

Griffith said the shortened season for the city’s swimming pool came to an end this past weekend.

In other news, Griffith said the city has submitted an application to try to get back some funds it spent in response to COVID-19. Griffith said the city filed the application for C.A.R.E.S. Act money through the Saline County Commission on Friday, July 31. he did not have an answer from the commission prior to the city council meeting on Tuesday, August 4.
