An area health department has put a mandate in place.

According to the Lafayette County Health Department, the mask order is in effect.

Officials say: “We hope that this mandate will increase compliance enough to reverse the trend of an increase of rising cases in the county. Many people do not get sick, and very few die that is true. But a whole lot of people are out there carrying the virus. A mask is proven to reduce spread, and we hope that folks will behave with responsibility and compassion towards other people who are vulnerable to getting sick, or worse.”

Health officials say there are many exceptions to mask wearing for special circumstances and instances where you can social distance built into the order.
