Increasing by nearly 1,000 by 2 p.m. on Tuesday, August 11, from Monday, August 11, the total number of positive COVID-19 cases confirmed in the state of Missouri soared past 60,000 since the beginning of the pandemic.

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services says the total number of positive cases was 60,935 on Tuesday- up from 59,954 on Monday.

The number of COVID-19-related deaths increased from 1,307 on Monday to 1,312 on Tuesday. However, DHSS does not report how many positive patients have recovered.

DHSS expects the next update to take place at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12.
