Saline County’s Interim Auditor Sandra Walter announced that she is going to be stepping down from that role and back to her position as deputy auditor on Monday, August 16, during the meeting of the Saline County Commission on Thursday, August 13.

Following that and Walter leaving the chamber without further explanation, Southern District Commissioner Monte Fenner asked where the county stands on a commission order that was filed last month for the transfer of funds regarding the project at Marshall Junction.

Fenner said the commission order was sent July 23 and is frustrated as to why the money hasn’t been transferred as he discussed it with Clerk Debbie Russell.

Fenner further said commissioners have an Saline County Economic Development Board meeting scheduled for Wednesday, August 19, “and it needs to be correct in our funds how much money we have to be distributed the first of October. And that fund, Fund 58, should have never been touched by anyone but the Saline County Commission.”

Presiding Commissioner Kile Guthrey Jr. said it should have been a simple fix.

Russell said she attempted to fix the problem on Wednesday, August 13.

In the end, nothing was resolved, and commissioners adjourned the meeting.
